Long story short, it seals his abilities. This isn't something he should know he has. For his own safety.

Ignorance isn't a long-term solution. If it's something he's capable of, it'd be better for him to understand it and know his own limitations. If it's dangerous to use that's even more of a reason to understand it properly. Even if you can't tell him directly because he's a shinki there are ways around that.

You know about the flames?

[ His emotion doesn't convey easily over text but he's practically shaking as he types it out. How? How did this man know about the flames? Did he see it when-- no, he doesn't want to think about that. ]

They appeared for him during the training session to stop a projectile. He didn't seem to notice it, though. It was probably a fluke since it only happened once.

[And he remembers the flames from his vision of Rin's death, but he wouldn't think of that as usable evidence. The fire could've been unrelated to Rin, based on that information alone.]

[ A fluke... yeah... flukes are good. Flukes happen. But still... ]

The sword should have sealed them completely. If they appeared once, something must have happened when he died that unsealed them. Either way, I suggest training him to keep them under control. They can be unpredictable if left unchecked.

How can something act as a seal if it's not present? Assuming the ability originates fully from Rin and can't be removed and placed in an object.

As for how the seal works it has something to do with what he is. The sword serves as his "heart". so to speak. It's something tied to him so you're somewhat right on it being something that originates from him. They're tied together, him and the sword.

So the sword is a part of him as well? Interesting.

What is he, exactly?

Both of us are born from a human mother and a demon for a father. But as far as we've been able to figure out, he inherited whatever power was passed down via our demonic half. Nothing of the sort has manifested in me.

For all intents and purposes, I'm as human as they come.

[A half demon? Well, that would certainly explain the ears and tail... too bad Ciel isn't around to give him some insight on half-demons.]

Noted. Dealing with demons happens to be one of my specialties, so taking care of an inexperienced half-demon shouldn't be too difficult. [probably, maybe]
